I'm a gamer. RPGs, FPS, MMOs, not to mention episodic games based on characters from early 90s PC titles. I love games for the fun, for the challenge, for the "I'm never going to beat this as long as I live" moment, followed by the elation when you *do* knock it out of the ballpark.

IGN “Guitar Hero 5 is the best addition to the franchise in a long time.” 8.9
Don't hang up your plastic axe just yet.
by Erik Brudvig
September 1, 2009 - Activision and Neversoft have been running the Guitar Hero show for some time now. The group took hold of the franchise with Guitar Hero 3, expanded the game series to a full band with Guitar Hero World Tour and offered up a handful of spin-offs along the way. With that much experience, you'd think the mega-publisher would learn how to put together a winning product. And you'd be right. Guitar Hero 5 is the best addition to the franchise in a long time.

Guitar Hero 5 Review
Ask any educated gamer what two video games come to mind when discussing the major opposing forces in the music genre market, most if not all will repeat the words Guitar Hero and Rock Band. One started the music-genre in the United States revolution and the other proceeded to evolve the entire system, adding in all-new instruments and making it more of a group experience. Since the release of Rock Band a couple years ago publisher Activision and developer Neversoft are attempting a pretty strong comeback; by releasing Guitar Hero: World Tour last year it brought the franchise into the next-generation with full band support. Now it's time for the series to make a true return to glory as the experienced companies gear up to release Guitar Hero 5 just in time for the massive holiday sales. The inclusion of superstars (Kurt Cobain, Johnny Cash, Shirley Manson) helps push gamers to complete every single crevice of the game, just to unlock all of them. There have been multiple GH games released over the past couple years but it's now time for the true sequel, the fifth game in a ridiculously popular and fun series of interactive music experiences.
31/08/2009
“Kurt Cobain is one of the most recognizable frontmen in rock ‘n’ roll history and it’s an honor to have two of Nirvana’s masterpieces included in Guitar Hero 5,” said Tim Riley, Vice President of Music Affairs for Activision. “This is the first time the original recording of ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ has ever been licensed in an entertainment property and we’re thrilled to offer Guitar Hero® fans exclusive access to the unreleased live version of ‘Lithium.’”
