Dev Blog: Band Hero Treasure Hunt Achievement
Let me first introduce myself. My name is Lee Ross and I am one of the many folks here at Neversoft that work on bringing the Achievements/Trophies for the Guitar Hero and Band Hero games into your living room. You might have read a recent blog I posted about getting into the gaming industry. Well enough about me. Let's talk "Treasure Hunt" our newest Achievement/Trophy addition to Band Hero!
With Band Hero we wanted to break the mold of the traditional Achievements/Trophies (ex: streaks, scores on songs, etc). We do have some of the more traditional Achievements/Trophies this go around but we also have something completely new and different for you.
The way it works:
Treasure Hunt is only one of 20 Achievements/Trophies in Band Hero that are all tied directly together. Spread throughout the Band Hero songs are secret notes. These notes look just like your ordinary notes only these notes serve a very special purpose. When someone plays a song containing the secret notes and manages to play all of them successfully, that player will be awarded with a single Achievement/Trophy for finding the secret notes. If a player successfully plays all of the secret notes in all 19 of the songs containing secret notes and earns all of the secret note Achievements/Trophies, they will then be awarded the coveted "Treasure Hunt" Achievement/Trophy.
Now I am sure you are thinking "How are we supposed to know which songs contain these secret notes?". To aid in your search the description for each secret note Achievement/Trophy contains a clue as to who performs the song you will need to play. You will need to figure out who that artist is and then play their song and try to locate the secret notes by playing them all successfully.
Since Band Hero offers the option to play as a vocalist, bassist, guitarist or drummer we offer the ability to earn this Achievement/Trophy as any one of those performers. We also offer this Achievement/Trophy for all difficulties. This means you can play as any instrument and perform on any difficulty you see fit. Of note, these Achievements/Trophies can only be earned once. So if you earn "Secret notes 5" as a drummer, you will not be able to earn it again with any other instrument.
So what is all of this hard work worth to you? On the Xbox 360, once you have earned the "Treasure Hunt" Achievement you will have netted yourself a cool 585 points! Each Secret Note Achievement is worth 5 points with the Treasure Hunt Achievement weighing in at a hefty 490 points! For our PS3 owners, you will have earned 19 Bronze Trophies and 1 Gold Trophy!
We hope you enjoy the new challenge set before you. If you have any questions I will try to answer as many as possible. Please note, I will not be revealing any of the songs nor giving any additional hints as to how to earn these Achievements/Trophies. =)
Thanks!
Lee Ross, Producer
