GHTunes Showcase: Band Hero MashUp Jam from GHDevThomasO
If you think that Style Patterns are just used for GHJam demos then you may want to look a little deeper into Pattern Mode. There are 12 different styles to pick from when you create a new song in GHMix. Each of the styles selects the tempo, Line 6 effects, keyboard samples, mixer presets and default patterns for the style. These patterns are the same ones that are used in GHJam but can also be used in GHMix to easily recreate or remix the examples.
You can take Pattern Mode further by mixing and matching different styles to create new music. I created Mashup Jam by combining hip hop, chip tunes, hard rock, and funk styles together. The drums track is a combination of funk and hip hop styles played using the chip tunes sounds. All of the other tracks were created with a combination of hard rock, funk, and chip tunes styles.
To get started using Pattern Mode, paste in the same style in all of the tracks. These should line up to sound like the styles in GHJam. Choose Pattern Select to define which patterns are set to each fret button on the guitar. The easiest track to start changing styles with is the drums track since all of the sounds are rhythmic instead of harmonic. Not all of the patterns will sound great together but finding unexpected combinations is part of the fun.
Try mixing styles in Pattern Mode the next time you are looking for creative inspiration in GHMix and check out my other Band Hero GHMix songs (Spin Room and Feed Forward).
